Blankon 6.0 Release Notes
BlankOn 6.0 (Ombilin) is the newest version of BlankOn distribution. This distribution was developed by the Indonesian Linux Mover Foundation (Yayasan Penggerak Linux Indonesia - YPLI) and BlankOn Developers Team. BlankOn is an Indonesian special distribution that includes a variety of software that is widely used by consumers in general, such as office programs, financial applications, Internet applications, drawing (both vector and bitmap), support to play various multimedia file formats, as well as other interesting applications.
BlankOn development does not merely want to create a new Linux distribution, but rather is motivated by a desire to improve quality and quantity in skills of free and open source software development, which is, in essence, one of the characteristics of Indonesian people that have passion to cooperate with other people.
BlankOn developers believe that the Indonesian people are able and not inferior to other nations in the world. Therefore, we actively invite anyone interested and have the same passion to join the BlankOn development.
Ombilin code name is taken from the name of an area in Padang, West Sumatra, which has Ombilin Power Plant, Ombilin Stone, and Ombilin River.

BlankOn 6 Ombilin has features that facilitate you in your work, entertainment, internet activities, and also educational activities.
Aksara Nusantara
BlankOn 6 Ombilin supports four of Indonesian ancient scripts (Aksara Nusantara), namely Bugis script, Toba Batak script, Balinese script, and Sundanese script. These scripts are used in some areas in Indonesia. Balinese and Sundanese scripts are the latest addition in this version.
Stardict fast dictionary
BlankOn 6 Ombilin provides Stardict Dictionary that supports English to Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Indonesia to English translation as well as Bahasa Indonesia and Sundanese language. Indonesian dictionary and thesaurus are also included.
Chromium web browser
BlankOn 6 Ombilin includes Chromium web browser for quick access to your favorite websites. It is lightweight, easy to use, and secure.
Exaile music player
BlankOn 6 Ombilin fully supports entertainment and graphics needs of you. You can watch movies, listen to musics, and also do graphics design using free and open source softwares like Gimp, Inkscape, and so forth.
USB Modem Switch - flip-flop
BlankOn 6 Ombilin also supports USB flip-flop modem that lately is very popular among internet users in Indonesia. Ombilin supports a variety of models and brands of USB modems that are commonly available in Indonesia so you don't have to worry if you want to use your modem on Ombilin. Plug your modem and you will be ready surfing the Internet on Ombilin.
Shotwell photo album
BlankOn 6 Ombilin provides Shotwell photo album application that will help you manage tens and even hundreds of thousands of your digital photos. You can also easily send the photos to online photo services like Flickr, Facebook, and Picasa.
TuxTyping?
Train your typing skills using TuxTyping? that is provided in BlankOn 6 Ombilin. Your children can also try it!
BlankOn Repository
Starting from BlankOn 6 Ombilin, Ubuntu software repository is no longer needed because now BlankOn has its own software repository. All softwares that are available in Ubuntu repository are also available in BlankOn repository so you don't need (and are not recommended) to use the Ubuntu repository in your BlankOn installation.
BlankOn also provides the repository in DVDs that can be downloaded from http://arsip.blankonlinux.or.id/dvdrepo/
AMD64 Architecture
In this release, BlankOn once again supports AMD64 architecture. Now you can fully utilize your 64bit PC with Ombilin.

BlankOn 6 Ombilin can be downloaded from BlankOn Download Center in a form of Live CD. You can try using BlankOn in a complete shape without needing to install it to you harddrive. If you need to run BlankOn at full speed, you can install it on your computer.
Users of previous version of BlankOn can also upgrade the installation to Ombilin through Synaptic application that is already available.
